Local liberal influencer Chelsea Goss, better known as Chelsea Gods, is tangled in a First Amendment battle with far-right media outlet One America News Network after a video of her in the station’s parking lot went viral.
The Feb. 3 video shows Goss outside the OANN headquarters in Bay Ho shouting at the network’s founder Charles Herring about the decision to hire former congressman Matt Gaetz as a commentator.
Herring now wants a judge to ban Goss from speaking about any OANN employees and to delete all previous posts she’s made mentioning them.
Goss and her attorney then struck back with an anti-SLAPP motion, a legal practice meant to rapidly dismiss suits meant to silence people’s First Amendment rights.
Gaetz resigned from federal office shortly after being nominated to lead President Donald Trump’s Justice Department in 2024. But Gaetz also faced allegations that he paid to have sex with a 17 year old in 2017. A bipartisan investigation found “substantial evidence” to support this claim and others regarding Gaetz, which led him to withdraw his nomination.
