According to Musk, extraterrestrials are frequently portrayed as superior to humans or as first-class citizens in popular culture. The title alien would have been cut open on an operating table if it weren’t for the intervention of ET’s human friend. Millions of extraterrestrial “prawns” are crammed into South African slums in the 2009 movie District 9, which serves as a metaphor for human cruelty and discrimination in real life.

Despite our best efforts, no proof of extraterrestrial life has yet been uncovered, but we are actively searching. Whatever we discover in the near future, it’s more likely to be evidence of microbial life that may have once been on Mars rather than the humanoids seen in movies and television.
Are we all alone? Let’s start with what we do know in order to respond to this question. The visible universe is vast, with a radius of around 15 billion light years, or 300,000 times the size of the Milky Way, according to NASA. What, however, is outside? Excellent question, Musk says.

Despite the fact that we are continuously searching, our equipment is now capable of reporting. With its deep field imaging, the Hubble Space Telescope has so far identified 10,000 galaxies at the distance of 13.4 billion light years, and it’s still counting. The James Webb Space Telescope has already returned amazing photographs, extending Hubble’s research, including an infrared investigation of a planet outside of our solar system.

JPL/Caltech planetary scientists are keeping a running tally at the NASA Exoplanet Archive to determine how many of those galaxies have planets that might support life. NASA’s Kepler and K2, followed by TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite), undertook the mission “to discover hundreds of Earth-size and smaller planets in or near the habitable zone and determine the fraction of the hundreds of billions of stars in our galaxy that might have such planet, Musk stated.

Shockingly, 5,178 exoplanets have already been found. Because of this, we have “powerful evidence that our solar system is not an exception but simply one out of countless others in the universe,” as astrobiologist Dr. Nathalie Cabrol noted in her paper Alien Mindscapes—A Perspective on the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. But does life as we know it exist elsewhere? And are they aware that we are here? Musk says.
So, what’s the missing plan?

According to Musk, there are no international treaties or other framework to address how mankind might respond to contact with extraterrestrial intelligence.
