Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Sunday it’s still “too soon” to know whether or not it will be safe for families to get together over the Christmas holidays as COVID-19 continues to spread around the country and kill.
In remarks to CBS News’ Margaret Brennan during Sunday’s “Face the Nation” program, the lead U.S. immunologist was asked his thoughts about the holiday season as he expressed cautious optimism that the virus numbers are declining while continuing to remind viewers that the country must remain vigilant.
“You know, Margaret, it’s just too soon to tell,” Fauci, who is also serving as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, said regarding the Christmas season specifically. “We’ve just got to keep concentrating on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we’re going to do at a particular time.”
