
The turmoil at America’s most-watched cable news network continued this week when Fox News announced it had “parted ways” with prime-time host Tucker Carlson. Carlson’s departure follows last week’s multi-million dollar settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, and Lachlan Murdoch’s decision to drop his defamation case against local online publisher, Crikey. But the legal proceedings against Fox are far from over. In another defamation case arising out of the false claims about the 2020 presidential election, Smartmatic is suing the network for US$2.7 billion. Smartmatic is a global voting technology company that recently played a role in the NSW state election.
