Trump promised prices would drop “on day one.” Instead we got tariffs the Supreme Court ruled illegal, a needless war with Iran, and AI layoffs stacking on top. Fox News anchor John Roberts (born 1956) looked into the camera and suggested the fix is… a paper route.
So I did the math on John’s actual childhood versus yours. When he was a teenager: a house cost 2.7x your annual income, a car was 34%, college was 15%. Today? 4.8x, 59%, and 36%. You’re working just as hard for half as much.
Oh, and one more number from John’s youth: 70%. That was the top marginal tax rate back then… and a big reason the money he made actually meant something.
