An 18-year-old Minnesota man has been charged after federal authorities say he plotted an ISIS-inspired mass shooting at the Mall of America.
According to the Justice Department, Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud allegedly discussed carrying out a mass-casualty attack, pledged allegiance to ISIS and expressed a desire to kill 30 to 60 people. The FBI arrested him after an undercover operation involving the purchase of an AK-47, magazines and ammunition.
Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar is calling for increased investment in anti-terrorism efforts and local law enforcement following the foiled plot.
A criminal complaint contains allegations, and Mohamud is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
